LATEST NEWS ON ROOF SHINGLES

The total ban on the export of Iron wood beams and boards remains, however, the Indonesian Government has relaxed the export regulations for Iron wood roof shingles.

A few years ago the Indonesian Government announced a TOTAL ban on the export of Iron wood (the wood species from which roof shingels are produced). As such not one manufacturer in Indonesia was allowed to utilize this wood species for roof shingles.  The Government has recently relaxed the export of Iron wood shingles, provided the shingles are newly produced. Iron wood shingels from old stock are NOT allowed to be exported. Minimum order is 300 m2 (3,230 sqft)

DIMENSIONS
Our shingles are 780 mm long (30.7 inch) and 75 mm wide ( 2.95 inch) with a thickness of 5 mm (0.2 inch). The shingles have tapered ends as can be seen on the pictures above. You need 102 shingles to cover 1 m2 (10.76 sqft). All our shingles are export quality. Uncoated the Iron wood shingles will last for about 25 years.

Shingles may both be purchased seperately (minimum 100 m2. or 1,080 sqft) or installed on panels.

Since a ban on Iron wood shingles may well be imposed again we offer an alternative solution for our houses following an in-house developed system using a hardwood species which is allowed to be shipped abroad.

ALTERNATIVE SHINGLE ROOF WITH OUR PANEL SYSTEM

Our shingle panel roof system that replaces the Iron woods shingle system is the result of a 5-year long developing process. The shingles made from an alternative carefully selected wood species (not to be disclosed here) are allowed to be exported and are fixed onto a Bangkirai timber frame which measures only 1.70 x 0.50 mm (67 inch x 20 inch). The weight of the frame + shingles attached to it is just 12 kgs (27 lbs).
Our system allows 2 persons to install the shingle panels one-by-one until the roof is fully covered, rather than the system whereas half or a quarter of a roof section needs to be lifted in place requiring a small crane or a jib. The seams between these large panels are often not waterproof, are damaged and/or broken. With our paneling system such is impossible while the installation is very simple. You may also order our shingles separately, without the paneling.

Prefab World Bali

Reviews from Prefab World Bali

Prefabworld Bali International is doing an excellent job of modeling the 3-D finite element frame structure in STAAD and now analyzing the individual members to ensure that they are not overstressed. I have just completed a review of the column analysis for the primary columns supporting the roof, and it is well presented and clearly shows the members are of adequate size. I have not seen anything like this the before the way this report was presented and prepared with the vast knowledge behind. It was that excellent. This type of analysis would not have been possible by hand calculation because of the complexity of the structures. Excellent job by Prefabworld Bali International.
