Definition of deforestation according to Wikipedia:

"Deforestation is the removal of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use. Examples of deforestation include conversion of forestland to agriculture or urban use."

We do not need to explain the devastating effect caused by the world-wide ongoing deforestation.

What counts is what we, - as builders of tropical hardwood homes -, can do about it. First of all we could terminate our business, but this will have serious consequences for all of our staff and workers. Secondly we could increase our prices with 5-fold and contribute the extra funds to the Indonesian reforestation program. The question which immediately raises is: Who will buy our houses? We could source different type of hardwood species which are not (yet) on the endangered wood species list. However, sadly enough, this will not last long. We came up with many more ideas, but none of them proved to have a solid sustainable foundation, that is to say,........... one of these ideas may work well.

This is what we would like to achieve:
We are now gradually abandon the use of Indonesian hardwood for our houses which may soon be listed as "endangered" and replace this with hardwood species which grow in abundance and wich are protected by the V-legal system <V-legal> which lists the timber sources selected from Government certified plantations, whereas a proper and continous re-forestation program is in place.
The Pros: We will seriously contribute to the saving of Indonesia's endangered tropical forests. At least we are certain that we use "green wood".
The Cons: We may not be able to utililze some hardwoods we were used to and prices may have to be increased somewhat. However, we are of the believe that any client will be willing to pay this little contribution to safeguard Indonesia's tropical forests.

Reviews from Prefab World Bali

"Prefabworld Bali International is doing an excellent job of modeling the 3-D finite element frame structure in STAAD and now analyzing the individual members to ensure that they are not overstressed. I have just completed a review of the column analysis for the primary columns supporting the roof, and it is well presented and clearly shows the members are adequate size. I have not seen anything like this before the way this report was presented and prepared with the vast knowledge behind. This type of analysis would not have been possible by hand calculation because of the complexity of the structure. Job well done Prefabworld Bali International".
